Kathleen W. Schoenberg is an attorney in private practice who has represented the interests of charter schools for over 26 years.  During the course of Kathleen’s career, she has counseled and trained hundreds of charter schools in almost every county in the state.  She regularly advises charter schools during both start-up and operational phases and on a wide variety of topics, including open government laws, facility/real estate solutions, enrollment issues, vendor agreements and charter negotiation and compliance.  In addition, Kathleen is an approved governance trainer with the Florida Department of Education and has trained thousands of charter school board members. 

Kathleen is a regular speaker at the annual Florida Charter School Conference and has been a featured speaker on charter schools at the Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, New York.  She also served as a content expert for the Southern Regional Education Board’s Florida Turnaround Leaders Program.

Kathleen’s career in charter schools began in Philadelphia in 1996 when she helped to establish a law firm dedicated exclusively to serving Pennsylvania charter schools.  Kathleen represented the first charter schools in Philadelphia, and she represented schools in the first appeals process in Pennsylvania in 1999.

Kathleen graduated from Temple University School of Law with honors, and graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in communications with high honors.  She was the recipient of the Reuben H. Cohen Memorial Award for achievement in zoning and land development, and was the recipient of the Temple Law School award given for excellence in legal writing and research.  Kathleen is a nationally published poet, and is a member of the Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Massachusetts bars.
