Florida injunctions are enforceable throughout the state of Florida and in any other state. Once you have obtained an injunction, law enforcement and the courts become your allies in protecting yourself from harassment or violence. Additionally, Orders of Protection from other states will be given full faith and credit, and honored by Florida courts. Violating an Injunction for Protection is a criminal infraction that can result in imprisonment and/or fines, and loss of important privileges, including the right to own or carry firearms.
If you believe that someone is violating a protection order, the police should be contacted immediately. Also, injunctions can be modified to increase protection or allow some limited contact as conditions and relationships change. Finally, if you have been denied an injunction or had one enforced against you, the later conduct of the other party may allow a court to revisit a previous decision.
